Who are the Civitas School teachers? Why is Christian education important to them? How do they articulate the intersection of academic study and pursuit of Christlikeness?
More fundamentally, what is a classical education? How does it enable us to seek truth, goodness, and beauty and know God more fully?
We’ve created a blog to explore these questions. We want to share our vision of Christian classical education and gather an audience of Christians in our local community who support this project. What kind of support are we looking for? Primarily prayer and connectedness with you, as we benefit greatly from the feedback, suggestions, and encouragement we receive, and most of all from your prayers on our behalf. (We also accept financial donations, should you be inclined to give.)
This blog will be a place for Civitas School teachers and board members to share brief reflections about education on a fortnightly basis. Recurring topics will include:
pedagogy and educational philosophy
the value and beauty of various disciplines (from math to poetry to Latin)
studies in words and the surprising things they tell us
the wisdom of the ages on education and the arts
We aim for a broad readership—not merely those who currently have school-age children, but anyone who cares about the flourishing of the next generation, of the Church, and of Christian culture.
